This was the first visit made to Scotland by the All England Eleven. Two Grange members, W Moncrieff and HJ Wylie, had assisted a Northumberland XI v an All England XI and this probably led to the game being arranged by Grange.
C Lawrence took all 10 wickets in the All England Eleven second innings, and this is the first known case of such an event in Scotland.
