Biography:Styled Lord Dunglass until he succeeded his father as 14th Earl of Home in July 1951; disclaimed his peerage in 1963; created Lord Home of the Hirsel (life peer) in December 1974. Conservative MP for Lanark 1931-35 and 1950-51; for Kinross and West Perthshire 1963-74. Commonwealth Secretary 1955-60, Foreign Secretary 1960-63 and 1970-74; Prime Minister 1963-64 (as Sir Alec Douglas-Home). MCC president 1966-67.
